The Annual Camp Gordon Johnston Reunion Days were established to celebrate historic wartime Carrabelle and the service of our veterans from WWII to present. The Camp Gordon Johnston Association has announced the 2017 schedule. All veterans and their family, friends, and supporters are invited to Carrabelle from Friday, March 10, 2017 through Saturday Evening, March 11, 2017.

On Friday, March 10th, registration and interviews will continue throughout the day until 4pm.  At 6 pm, the Camp Gordon Johnston American Legion Post 82 located in Lanark Village will host a southern seafood buffet. Legion members, WWII veterans, and active duty troops only are invited to attend this event.

On Saturday, March 11th, all participants may enjoy breakfast at any of the restaurants in the area.

At precisely 10:45 A.M., beginning at 10th street on Highway 98 in Carrabelle, the parade will begin easternly on U.S. Highway 98.  Participating in the parade festivities will be: WWII vehicles and modern military equipment; antique cars, beauty queens; civic group floats and entries; and re-enactors will. As it was last year, Military Vehicle Preservation Association, First Florida Chapter, will be bringing their restored vintage military vehicles to participate in the parade. Afterwards they will be on display at the CGJ Museum parking lot. The public is cordially invited to attend this parade, paying tribute to veterans of all branches of service, from all past and current wartime and peacetime service. The public is also invited to come to the display location at the CGJ Museum to view the vehicles, purchase souvenirs and talk to the participants. Between 1:30 pm, a boat excursion to Dog Island might be provided by Towboats U.S. Passage, where many practice beach landings were held during WWII training, Weather permitting.  The cost for each participant will be $25.00. There must be a minimum of 4 persons before the boat will leave. This is a sightseeing trip—we will not disembark on Dog Island. Saturday evening at 6 pm, a dinner and dance will be held at the Senior Citizen’s Center.  No reservations are required and you may pay at the door [$10].

The CGJ Museum will be open for visitors on Thursday 1200–1600 hours, Friday 0900–1600 and Saturday 0900–1500 hours. The Museum is closed Sundays.

This year the City of Carrabelle is hosting a Fly-in at the Carrabelle Airport.  The booths previous found in the vicinity of the GUSC Grounds will be found at the Carrabelle Airport.  More info will be forth coming on this event.  This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy good food, fun and to honor all our veterans.

Drive south on 319 past Crawfordville about 22 miles to US 98. Go West on 98 about 38 miles to Carrabelle.
