CAMP GORDON JOHNSTON ASSOCIATION
REUNION

MARCH 12-14, 2010

The Camp Gordon Johnston Association (CGJA), cordially invites you and your organization to participate in the 15th annual Camp Gordon Johnston Association Reunion and Parade in Carrabelle, Florida on Saturday, March 13th, 2010 at 10:45 AM (EST). Reunion events will kick-off Friday, March 12 and conclude Sunday, March 14, 2010. The Reunion Parade features Camp Gordon Johnston veterans and honors many othera living in our local areas. The audience will get the opprtunity to hear the 98th “Silver Wings” US Army Band from Ft. Rucker, Alabama and an American Legion Contingent of Korean, Vietnam, Gulf, and Iraq War Veterans will make an appearance. There will also be participation by various civic and charitable organizations.

Attendees will have the opprtunity to get up close and personal with tours of WWII Army vehicles that have seen combat. Audiences will also get the priviledge of touring the “New Orleans” Landing Craft ( LCU 2034) and the United States Coast Guard Cutter, “Seahawk”. Tours of each craft will be conducted by vessel crew members. More than ever, our troops deserve our gratitude and support for their service and sacrifice. It is in our unity as Americans that we can stand strong now and forever. Thank you in advance for your consideration and we hope to see you at the Camp Gordon Johnston Reunion Parade in Carrabelle on March 13, 2010.

Reunion Events:

The following events are scheduled for the CGJA in the Carrabelle/Camp Gordon Johnston area. In addition, we invite all our member units to use this section to post THEIR events, wherever and whenever they may be held. You may E-Mail or write us to have your event posted.

FRIDAY MARCH 12, 2010

9am -4pm

Registration at the CGJ Museum @1001 Gray Avenue. Pick up name tags, (Should be worn at all times) schedules, and tickets to the Saturday night Dinner/Dance ($15.00 per person) and breakfast ($6.00 a person).

There will be boat trips to Dog Island for those who are interested. See Bobbye Winchester @ registration for rides. Tours of the Coast Guard Cutter “Seahawk” are available if she is in port. Also tours of the Army’s LCU2034 Landing Craft the “New Orleans” will be available; both are on the south end of Marine Street. this is a real treat for military veterans and enthuiasts.

6pm until

Official welcome at American Legion Post 82 in Lanark. This event is sponsored by the Legion members and the Ladies Auxiliary. Free refreshments will be served and “NOT QUIET READY” live band will play for your entertainment. Drinks must be purchased at the bar.:

SATURDAY MARCH 13 2010

7:30am - 10am

7:30-10:00 AM Breakfast will be served at the Masonic Lodge. The cost will be $6.00 a person. Pay at the door if you did not purchase a ticket at the Museum.

10:45 am-
11:45 am

10:45 AM –Parade on Highway 98. There will be seating at the corner of Highway 98 and Marine Street.


12:00 Noon 

L12:00 Noon- The City of Carrabelle will sponsor a free lunch in front of the newly renovated Volunteer Fire Department on Tallahassee Street.

After Lunch After lunch there will be static display of military vehicles & equipment as well as re-enactors to view. If you wish to see the Beach Property where the new museum will be located, see Tony Minichiello.

5pm - until

Dinner Dance at Chillas Hall in Lanark Village. Choice of Seafood or Ham.

SUNDAY MARCH 14, 2010

7:30am-8:30am

Sunday, March 14th Breakfast on your own. If you have any suggestions regarding the Reunion, please leave them with the Museum when you depart for home.

The Camp Gordon Johnston Museum will be open the following hours:

  • 9 am- 4 pm on Friday, March 12, 2010
  • 9 am- 3 pm on Saturday, March 13, 2010
  • 11:00 am -2:00 pm on Sunday, March 14, 2009

From Tallahassee, By Car: Map (20k)
Drive south on 319 past Crawfordville about 22 miles to US 98. Go West on 98 and follow about 38 miles to Carrabelle.

From Pensacola, By Car: Map (20k)
Drive East on Hwy 98 about 130 miles to Carrabelle.
